Government Warning – Executed

Government Warning – Executed

There are not a lot of punk bands making music like this these days. That is to say there aren’t a lot of bands doing it this well anyway. Think Hardcore in its heyday…Adolescents, Millions of Dead Cops, Reagan Youth. Richmond’s Government Warning are no joke. Just look at the cover of this single. It’s a blindfolded skeleton with a damn 9mm to its head. The back cover has the bands initials coming out of the pistol smoke. With three songs in under five minutes you should listen to this one standing up so you can keep flipping the record. They’re coming fast and angry with frenetic lyrics about executions, shallow graves, and errant dads. They even throw in a Battalion of Saints cover about the glorification of murderers for good measure (Modern Day Heroes). Bands like Government Warning are what give me hope that there’s still a bright future for Hardcore music.

This 7” serves to accompany their equally great new full length “Paranoid Mess”. And you can (and should) get either or both at Grave Mistake Records or No Way Records.
