Blacklisted – No One Deserves To Be Here More Than Me

Blacklisted – No One Deserves To Be Here More Than Me

Philly’s Blacklisted are back with a new album on Deathwish Records. The vinyl is of a sweet orange/black splatter variety. And every bit as sweet is the inclusion of a download coupon. In fact without said coupon you wouldn’t even be reading this review right now. It breaks my heart to say this but I had to disconnect my home stereo while my house goes under some much needed renovation. So in the meantime I’m without my computer and record player. But the show must go on and the FSS don’t stop for no one so this review comes to you courtesy of my iPod and old laptop (which is burning the shit out of my lap as we speak). For this reason I’m going to keep it short as this battery is likely to explode on me at any given minute.

I’ve listened to this album a bunch of times now on my morning commutes and it just keeps getting better. It’s got everything a good hardcore album needs. Depression? Check. Anger? Check. Aggression? Check. Jilted love? Check. Bad Breakup? Check. Downright honest and disturbing lyrics? Check and check. It reminds me a lot of another hardcore favorite of mine, “We’re Down Til We’re Underground” by Give Up The Ghost (or American Nightmare depending on how old school you are). The music is filled with both hardcore brutality and subtle nuances like horns and violins. The band consists of skilled musicians that actually know how to milk their instruments for all they are worth. Their live show is on a whole other level compared with most one-dimensional clichéd hardcore acts. I saw them open for the Bouncing Souls a little over a week ago and was just blown away with how tight they sounded. And loud. Loud as hell. The singer was like a shorter out of shape version of Henry Rollins clutching his mic barefooted and in shorts in the middle of a Jersey winter. There was no bullshit or fat to be found in their set. Just slay the audience with the music pack up the gear and move on. I’m already looking forward to seeing them again. Until then however I have the album and will continue to play it constantly. Hopefully I’ll have my record player hooked up again by the end of the month and I can spin the vinyl.

Okay so you can only buy this one directly from the Deathwish eStore so don’t bother looking for it the next time you are out and about record shopping. Instead click here and fork over yo momma’s plastic, and while you’re at it buy me something too.
