Know what I really have a lot of respect for? Well, not much actually. I mean, I like stuff; zeppoles, babies, ice-cream, snow days etc. But I don’t have a whole lot of respect for very much. Not cause I’m so punk rock or anything. Mostly cuz I’m an asshole, as has been detailed before. You’d know that already if you read this site. Dick.
One thing I have a lot of respect for though is doing whatever you want. Making an un-calculated decision to do just whatever you feel like doing, I think that’s the business. Oh, and not giving up. I respect that too. So that’s two things.
You remember that interview we had a while back with that band from our hometown, Crazy and the Brains? No, you don’t, cuz you don’t read the site. Dick. Well here is the review of their first home-made e.p. Probably I should have done the review before the interview. My fuckin b. Get off my back.
Yeah so those things I have respect for, the not giving up and the doing whatever you want, these cats have both of those attributes. They are in a band, the band implodes, the singer takes all their equipment. They get drunk for a bit, then they jack their high school band room for a xylophone, get an acoustic guitar and make a band. And it doesn’t sound like shit.
This first effort by them ain’t complex. Take Billy Bragg, The Clash, and The Ramones and then sing a bit like Tim Armstrong and Bob Dylan and slap a xylophone backup on it, this is their sound. But it works and it’s fuckin’ good. Even the xylophone. How many punk rock xylophones you think there are? Don’t even bother mentioning the Violent Femmes. Dick.
Crazy and The Brains have since moved on and got signed by Crafty Records, them and their fuckin’ xylophone. If you see any of their business, pick it up. You gotta respect it. Crazy and The Brains prove it can be done. All you gotta do is write good songs, hang in there and steal from the band room. Dick.
